Working Tanks

Working Tanks by S & S Pumping

LATERALS

It's also normal for the grass above the lateral lines to turn dormant in summer. As long as there is no surface seepage here, there is no cause for concern.

NORMAL TANK

A working septic tank will fill up with liquids 1-2 weeks after pumping it empty. This is normal and is no cause for concern.

OVERFULL TANK

An overflow tank will be filled with solids at the top of the tank. If this is the case, it's past time to pump your tank.

This photo shows a thick crust of wet wipes in the tank, which had to be cut out before pumping.

SUMMER

It's normal for the grass above a tank to go dormant and turn brown in the middle of summer. This is no cause for concern.

Some tanks will have a manhole lid like this. Others will have a smaller clean-out pipe with a white cap.
